There was excitement, intrigue and surprise at every turn at this wedding. We were promised one crazy party and we were not disappointed.  And what we saw unfold before us was a legacy of adventures and stories, real moments of laughter and beautiful tears of joy.

There are two such stories that I would like to share with you, my sweet reader. The first is the story of the acorn. If you scrolled down a few images and noticed the acorn ice sculpture, you may have wondered if they Sarah & Michael were squirrels in a previous life. But the story of the acorn goes back to their first date where they were enjoying a beer on the patio and a single acorn happened to plop it’s way into their beer. Sarah recounts that it broke the ice, and Michael always adds “it started with an acorn”.

The second story will explain Sarah’s priceless face in the last image. Their group has a little thing they do calling Icing. I consulted Urban Dictionary to get you the proper definition and rules of the game:  “The rules are simple: If a person sees a Smirnoff Ice, he or she must get down on one knee and chug it, unless they happen to be carrying their own Smirnoff, in which case they can “ice block,” or refract the punishment back onto the attacker. In order to dupe people into stumbling across the beverage, participants have devised creative ways of presenting them with Ices, like strapping the bottles to the backs of dogs or burying them in vats of protein powder.”

Burying them in vats of protein powder? Ok, that’s a little excessive, but I digress.

I kept a keen eye out all day for the Smirnoff Ice like I was being stalked, but I didn’t see any and I knew there was no way we were leaving the Piazza that evening without a proper Icing. Disappointed, I was not. We found two perfectly placed Smirnoff Ice in the getaway car, along with a crouching groomsmen, who was all smiles.

The perfect end to the perfect day.
