It’s amazing how quickly you can get to know someone in the one hour before their wedding. As I mentioned in my previous post, I knew very little about Lucy & Jason before I met them that evening in November, a mere 60 minutes before their wedding ceremony was to begin. But as I spent time with Lucy getting ready in the chapel, she expressed all of her nervousness and excitement and I could see with the first sixty seconds how beautiful she was, inside and out. When people are nervous, they often focus their worry on themselves. Lucy was eager to make sure every single person was perfectly taken care of, to the point that she almost didn’t get ready herself.
Jason just beamed the whole time. There was absolutely no where else he would rather be and no person he would rather be with than Lucy. I had never seen anything like that before. Sure, grooms are happy and in love. But Jason literally could not contain his joy and it radiated from every inch of his body.
The ceremony was short and sweet even though it was both in English and in Spanish. The guests were entranced the whole time, hanging on every word of the minister. Lucy and Jason laughed, often, and looked into the audience to share in their laughter.
They kissed. Then they walked down the aisle and kissed again, unprompted.
