I had the utterly amazing opportunity to second shoot for Michelle with Peyronet Photography this past summer and her clients, L&M, loved and embraced me as one of their own.
I can’t say enough about stepping back and playing second shooter once in a while. There’s this incredible sense freedom paired with a LOT of responsibility. You are suddenly on point for details and filling in the gaps to the story that is unfolding in front of you. And there is nothing like pairing your second shooting with a main photographer who respects and trusts you. Michelle gave me utter freedom, from going buck wild with the boys preceremony to helping arrange formal portraits. The bonus is that not only have we worked together before, but our shooting styles are eerily similar and complimentary. Well, and we are both just these super happy dorks that just want joke around, twirl on the dance floor and pick on the groomsmen.
My day began at the Omni Mandalay in Las Colinas where I was turned loose on a room of unsuspecting guys. I start pretty innocent, with pictures of the groom getting ready.
And then I encourage him to only wear the vest. And he dances for me.
Let me side track you with some pretty flowers.
St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dallas allows a photographer to stay stationary up against the last column and that is where I got to witness M’s sweet grandmother and her camera. M is waiting for the doors to open and for his bride to walk down the aisle and his grandmother & her camera are intently focused on him.
L’s mom takes a glance at M as the doors open and the wedding march begins.
Father John looks smashing in his new beard & mustache. I haven’t been back to St Thomas for a few years, but it was great to see his friendly face.
Decor at La Cima Club. The walls were washed with a vibrant blue, which allowed the white and green table settings to really pop.
Love this one.
And this one. What a fun first dance!
L’s dad was a riot. His speech was hilarious.
My first wedding with Ryan Lee of Astounding Sounds. We had a smashing good time.
