We walked into a bustling room at the Adolphus – Kim and her bridesmaids were in various phases of hair and makeup. And I caught Kim’s eyes as she was in the makeup chair and realized she was not pleased. You just know, even when you’ve met a client a handful of times, you just know. One thing that I definitely knew about Kim is that she has the kind of heart that makes her go above and beyond to not hurt someone’s feelings. The makeup  just wasn’t rocking her world.

So as Vivian and Hugo played with Kim’s  gorgeous dress, Jessica and I kept the room happy. And then we really moved into crunch time, so I rounded up the bridesmaids and I told them the plan. We needed to get Kim dressed and out the door without making her feel the time crunch. Each girl was tasked with a different accessory and suddenly we all went into overdrive.

In the meantime, Tom arrived at the hotel so Hugo spent some time getting him ready. Our original plan was to have the first look at the Dallas Arboretum in the gardens, followed by all of the formal portraits, but the weather became extremely uncooperative out of nowhere.

I’m very diligent about checking the weather, especially for outdoor weddings so I have no idea where the freak storm came from nor why it decided to attack us with such vigor. And as the big drops started to fall and the sky darkened menacingly, the call was made to move the ceremony indoors.

It was time for me to make a big decision, too. Where o where were we going to do the first look? So many thoughts, ideas, and possibilities start to run through your head but one thing you keep hearing is that little voice screaming “don’t f@ck this decision up!”
