There’s no doubt that Marty Leonard Chapel is simply beautiful, especially in the evening when the interior just glows in a soft, warm light and shows off all of the intricate architecture within. That’s the beauty of it, the underlying beast is that there are not a lot of images of the chapel in the evening, especially in the winter when the sun sets before 5:30pm because many have found it an impossible beast to photograph. And yet, I love the hell out of that beast.
So here it is, an evening ceremony at Marty Leonard Chapel, in late December and in full color, (because black and white is for wusses).
Kathleen let me know during the planning processes that she was walking down the aisle with her mother. As I normally do, I planted Vivian behind the chapel doors as usual. But during the processional, Kathleen’s mother took her place in the front row and I watched her intently wondering if she was going to walk back up the aisle. Something felt wrong and as I looked back at the groom, David, who had taken his place on the altar, I was him move out of the corner of my eye. And so I snapped his run up the aisle.
The doors opened and Vivian must have jumped back because I know she likes to stand to the left of the bride usually. Either way, she captured David’s tender kiss on Kathleen’s hand and their very triumphant walk up the aisle together.
But wait, there’s more. Hugo, who was in the balcony must have also sensed something was amiss because he flawlessly captured both David heading up the aisle and the bride and groom’s joint walk up the aisle. Now that’s what I mean when I have an awesome crew.
One from the limo before we headed to the reception.
