I had mentioned adventures in my previous post and I feel like that was the perfect way to describe the day – ‘adventurous’! There were many steps taken (as recorded by my fit bit) and we found so many new and exciting places to photograph – both at the Joule Hotel and at the Dallas Arboretum. Erica had requested that they do their first look in the sunken garden, but we arrived to find the previous wedding still taking photographs and tons of chairs in our way. We diverted (seamlessly!) to some adjacent stairs near the rose garden.
((Along the way, Vivian and I reminisced about her first wedding with me in that same Sunken Garden for our dear friends Tara and Jason circa 2005!))
After the first look and family portraits, we made our way back across the gardens to Crepe Myrtle Allee for the ceremony. As many times as I have photographed brides and grooms in this area, I have never had a ceremony there. But oooo that beautiful light found us, just as Erica and her father entered into the tree canopy.
After the ceremony concluded, the guests were asked to remain seated and were quickly rewarded with a beautiful father, daughter dance as well as Erica & Joe’s first dance. Another first for me – having the dances right after the ceremony, but it was such a treat for the guests (they cried!) and for us, the photographers (oooo look at that beautiful, beautiful light!).
