Dawn was living in an apartment complex, when she was reporting some issues to Scott, one of the leasing managers there. He offered her some water and brazenly asked her on a date. When Scott’s only request was that he have the image below, I was more than happy to oblige, but I needed the full story and I got it!
Scott is charismatic and kind, which pairs so lovely with Dawn’s trusting heart. They laugh together, a lot. They share kind gestures, they think about one another first.
What I have not mentioned was that their wedding day was one of those super-toasty mid-summer days in Texas. We had full run of the Dallas Arboretum, which was amazing, albeit challenging on a scorching day. We clung to the shade mostly and emerged in full sun for a minute or two at a time. We were hot, but happy.
One of the funniest stories I can remember in a long time came from that day – Dawn’s beautiful Bagley Mischka shoes were killing her feet so she decided to take them off. That wasn’t a problem for the dress length situation, but it was a problem for her poor feet because the concrete was scorching. It turns out that we wear the same shoe size so I offered up my flats, thinking I could stand in the grass while shooting and they could stand on the concrete in the shade. There wasn’t enough grass around – I was in agony. So my assistant, Taylor, offered up her Chucks (several size too big) while she wore her socks on the concrete. It was the craziest game of shoe swapping I have ever played … ok, the only game of shoe swapping that I have ever played and it provided hours of ridiculous laughter!
