After their first glance, I got a lovely 10 minutes with Brittany and Colby outside of the chapel. Since it was a morning ceremony, we decided to photograph the family and wedding party after the ceremony. These few minutes alone were perfect to calm down any additional nerves and to enjoy the beginning of this beautiful day.

Brittany had requested an image in front of the Christ Chapel sign and as I stood there and assess my options of cropping out the houses behind it, I decided that it would just be so lovely if they sat down near it. Now, every bride has her boundaries and we quickly found that Brittany was not comfortable sitting in the grass in her dress before her wedding ceremony. Her face went from a worry-some glance to full on protesting. But I was confident in my photography decision and in the fact that her dress wouldn’t get dirty. The things that we learn as photographers- certain wedding fabrics just don’t pick up stains the way other do and I assured her that unless she rolled around in the grass she would be a-ok. And she was. And she loved the image.

After the ceremony, we focused on some sweet family groupings and then heading out to the reception!
