What did you do July 4th? Did you get to see two lovely, lovely people get engaged? I sure did!
I suckered Evan into driving out to Tool, Texas to a lake house on Cedar Creek Lake, where the whole family had gathered for Independence Day festivities. But wait there’s more! It also happened to be Jack’s birthday. But wait there’s more! He was proposing to Carley!
Jack made it to the lake house a good 10 minutes before Carley did. There was a swirl of last minute activity: putting down rose petals on the walk way, positioning video cameras, and setting up a live feed to share it all in real time.
I could hear Carley before I could see her come around the side of the house … she was already gasping and crying. Yeah, she was surprised.
Once the proposal was complete, family & friends swarmed the happy couple and we took some fun pictures of everyone together – including the furry family – and then Evan and I headed back to Dallas where we grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, because … ‘Merica.
