Kenzie :: Orion Ballroom Bridals

Earlier this year, I organized a slew of amazing vendors to show off the beauty that is the Orion Ballroom in Dallas, Texas. Kenzie was one of our gorgeous models, wearing a custom gown designed by Binzario Couture, located in Dallas as well. This post is just the start of a showcase of different looks for the ballroom, all of which are completely unique and, I think, utterly amazing. The full suite is gorgeous - wrapped in historic details and modern touches. Kenzie's portraits were taken in the bar/lounge area and the...

Elizabeth :: bridals

Elizabeth was married in December at the happiest place on earth. I had the pleasure of doing her bridals in Fort Worth, a place that makes me pretty darn happy personally. Elizabeth just glowed as she spoke about her wedding and her fiance and the location perfectly complimented her chic and sophisticated side. It was just such a gorgeous day that we caught the sun set at a nearby park. Side note: the sun flare was in camera, I'm pretty proud of the perfect circle of loveliness that it created. ...

Lauren & Chris :: ceremony

Lauren looked stunning but I kept watching her face. I knew she was going to turn on the waterworks at some point. And then I turned around and saw Chris and he was crying first! And as soon as Lauren saw Chris she lost it too. Even the minister cried. As did Chris' father. But the ceremony wasn't all sobbing. We had some good laughs. I even got called out during the ceremony "Lynn - where ever you are ( I was in stealth mode) - make sure you schedule is open for anniversary pictures every year" Oooo a ring! I...

Lauren & Matt :: reception

Putting up the final post is a little sad. You wonder if you will ever see the clients again, you think back to all of the planning that you have been a part of and how they made sure you were fed on the wedding day. Ahhh, memories. But I'm not done with Lauren & Matt. Lauren will take her role as matron of honor in her best friend's wedding in November. And I've already been promised another Cupid Shuffle to top off the night. Lauren and Matt's wedding day had gone off without a hitch when we arrived at Prestonwood...

I'm building a new computer today.

I simultaneously love and hate the day I build a new computer. I always feel like a leave a little bit behind when that happens and I get anxious that my new components will not only work but will be friendly with one another.I set up a trial computer for one of my editors almost a year ago to see if I could realistically use SSD (solid state drives) in combination with my photo processing needs. The computer was a winner in almost every way except for the video card -  a GeForce GTX 470 that revved up pretty loudly...

It all started with a photograph.

I didn't know it when we started exchanging emails in September or even when I arrived in Hutchins, Texas the Sunday after Thanksgiving.  I didn't even know it until I had been wandering around for 30 minutes, looking at the location and angle of the sun. But we (Hugo and I) were there for more than just a photograph. Great Grandmother Gross came up to us in the yard and asked gently "can I show you something?"  We followed her into her home and she pointed out the last professional...

Lauren & Kyle :: Fort Worth Club Reception

First, a glimpse at the fabulous Fort Worth Club and the soft fall decor that was set up there for Lauren & Kyle's reception. Then onto the introduction and some dancing! Lauren had a tender dance with her father. Kyle and his mom bogeyed down to the utter enjoyment of the crowd. Cake cutting is serious business. A truly unique ode to New York, where Kyle & Lauren currently reside. Cake cutting can be fun, too. The "O my Gosh, I caught it!" look. The band, Blind Date out of out of Austin,...

Lauren & Kyle :: the portraits

With the first look complete, we started with wedding party images in the church's courtyard and followed with family portraits. We ended up finishing 30 minutes early even though we started 30 minutes late. (Photography yields some funny math!) This gave us some extra time for some additional family images and other fun things. My lovely bridesmaids. Dapper groomsmen. Silly ushers. No, seriously, silly ushers. Lauren and her family. Kyle and his family. Michelle caught some lovely moments with Lauren & her...

Rashee & Asheesh's Fairmont San Jose Reception

After the ceremony, Rashee & Asheesh changed clothes for their reception. I adore just spending time with them so we just joked in their suite for a bit. I got some more time to shoot Asheesh. This is what you call yummy light. Vivian and Jamie, meanwhile, were shooting the reception room. Some tender moments with Rashee & her father. A toast from Asheesh's father. This is where the table wars started. It was California  (Asheesh's friends) vs Texas (Rasheesh's friends). This...

Melanie & Clint's Old Red Reception

I'm about to show you a lot of reception images. It was just too hard not to when I have so many great pictures of Melanie & Clint truly enjoying themselves. Let's start by setting the scene first. This is the view from the ballroom at Old Red. Such a peaceful view of downtown on a Saturday evening. Due to its historic-ness (ok, I assumed that's why!) Old Red does not allow candles or open flame. I love how creative Melanie was with the centerpieces. The bridal party walked into the reception with conviction &...
