I met them on Wednesday and they told me on the spot that I was going to be their wedding photographer. Danny hadn’t proposed yet but they were getting a jump on the wedding planning nonetheless. Two days later I was at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden nearby their home and Danny told Stacy that I had just completed an engagement session and I wanted to warm them up for theirs by showing them some poses. I met them in the Rose Garden and we did just that – worked on a few poses and slowly moved our way towards the Lower Rose Garden. It was a beautiful day and I was stalling slightly because there was a bride doing her portraits on the lawn.
I asked Stacy to hold perfectly still with her back to Danny. “I want a very slow time exposure and if you move it will be blurry”. She complied and I gave Danny the nod. He took the box out of his hand and it looked at it for a moment and then time just kind of stopped, even for me. Stacy didn’t turn around for a bit, I’m sure she was confused as to why Danny had placed his hand on the small of her back.
When she did turn around, she just smiled. No panic, no OMGs, just a beaming, wide smile.
And it just continued for several minutes. I couldn’t hear what Danny said, but in that moment when time stopped it was all just beautiful and amazing. Even for me.
Stacy & Danny’s parents were both there to congratulate them. We actually had a whole crowd cheering from the balcony in the garden.
Show it off! Show. It. Off.
