I spent the last couple of days editing up a storm and playing with my new camera. I just HAD to read the manual front to back before I even attempted to take a shot.
I’ve also been prepping for a week long trip to Arizona to attend the Digital Wedding Forum Conference and ImagingUSA! Super excited about that!!! Notice all of the exclamation points!!!
Here’s one of the first images that I took with my new camera of newatude (translation: having the attitude of new!):
Why did I go straight for Gizmo? Well, other than being the most illusive of my furballs, he also presents the biggest contrast against the floor and banister. The first one was just for fun, because he’s cute like that.
After that, I started some basic testing. The easiest way for me to compare the new camera’s focusing abilities was to capture Gizmo looking at me through the banister and to see what the camera focused on. Previously, in a low-light/ high-contrast situation the camera would search back and forth for a bit to lock focus and would inevitably decide that I wanted to focus on the banister. Wrong.
Three shots today all yielding an in-focus, albeit grouchy looking Gizmo! Hooray for better focusing!! The image was shot at 1600 ISO, which rendered very clean, noise-less image:
And when I say low-light, I mean low-light. This is what the area looked like to the human eye – coming from a single can light above the stairs.
One more thing! Temporary business cards came in. They are pretty fabulous, but are going to pale in comparison to the letterpress ones that will be here in a few weeks!
