Stacey, Janelle, Michelle and I were so very touched by the support and love we were given at our Research. Meet. Click. event at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. Creme de la Creme Bakery made our tummies o so happy with their delicious cupcakes while Colby Logan of Astounding Sounds served as Master of Ceremonies and Steve Allen of Sonrise Video videoed the event.

For door prizes, our favorite wedding officiant, Marty Younkin of Love Notes Weddings contributed “A Wedding Ceremony to Remember”, his book which offers a selection of traditional and contemporary readings for every type of wedding ceremony. The lovely & amazing Circle Park Bridal also contributed a birdcage veil to one of our lucky guests. And our own wonderful Janelle presented a honeymoon travel pillow & blanket as well as a copy of CRAVE Fort Worth.

(Vivian was our lovely photographer for the event. Thank you, my muffin!)

Stacey & Michelle came up with the most whimsical and lovely decor – teacups, roses, and vintage cameras. Perfect!

I spoke about style and how to really get to the heart of what the bride & groom are looking for and how involved they want their wedding photographer to be during the planning process and on the wedding day itself. I also shared some examples of different wedding photography styles (documentary, traditional, and so forth) and talked about post processing.

Stacey talked about how to find a wedding photographer and what questions to ask prior to the consultation and at the meeting. She also covered designing the right wedding photography package for you and signing the contract.

Janelle had the fun part – sharing a number of the photography products available. She also talked about the difference between books (sometimes called coffee table books), Matted Albums (not your Mother’s wedding album!) and flush mount albums (aka storybook albums). She covered album design, and all of the different portrait sessions that you can do leading up to your wedding including engagements, bridals and boudoir photography.

Everyone was able to feel, smell (and lick!) the products firsthand. We had everything from Save the Date cards to Canvas Wraps on hand.

Michelle wrapped up the fun by discussing what she called “the big elephant in the room” – pricing. She covered everything from determining how much to spend on your wedding photographer to what you are paying for as part of the price – and that is more than just having a body at your wedding pushing a button@  Michelle also covered what the industry standards are in terms of payment and business liability coverage. But the most important that she stressed was to pick the photographer that Clicks with you and to not make money the final deciding factor.
