I have this weekend sectioned off velvet rope style for my good friend Keeli’s birthday. If you don’t know the Keeli story, she was once a bride of mine. Now she’s a full time friend stalker. This is what she did to me on my birthday last year:
I’m the one in the middle with a bird (Phil is his name) in my hair. I had quite a feat ahead of me planning this weekend, as you may imagine.
We started the weekend on Friday night with an early dinner at Piranhas Killer Sushi. We are not only sushi fiends, but specifically, sweet/spicy/yummy roll fiends. We ordered our usual favorites: the marry me roll, crunchy tuna, rainbow roll and we also got something new – it’s a secret roll called the Latino Roll. MMMMM jalapenos, cream cheese and raw fish. Yummy.
We followed up this goodness with a Parisian Dessert cooking class at Central Market with David Lebovitz. David is hilarious and loves mixing an array of flavors together so he is also my favorite Parisian dessert chef now. We tasted bacon & blue cheese ‘cake’ with a spring salad, frozen chocolate-banana glacé with warm cherries & candied almonds, chocolate-coconut marshmallows with lemon-glazed Madeleines, and chocolate pain d’Épice with Sauternes-poached pears & plums. Luckily, Keeli could pronounce all of this.
Saturday’s brunch was at Lucielle’s Stateside Bistro, where I would highly recommend the Morning Glory pizza. Yes, cheese, eggs & bacon on a pizza. Heavenly.
Our final event included pedicures at Skyline Nail & Spa. I opted for the Skyline Signature Pedicure while some of the other attendees venturing into some Vanilla thing that included placing their feetsies into a bag of mud.
