When I asked if I should blog about my experiences as a Matron of Honor in my best friend’s wedding, I got a pretty overwhelming “YES” response! (If you can guess who the “no” response was, I will give you a cookie. )
The bridal shower planning started a few weeks ago. I set out to find a place in the northern suburbs (Plano/McKinnney/Frisco) that was a quaint little tea room or winery. I’ll tell you more about the location after the party, but just know it’s a perfect mix of yummy food and scrumptious desserts with an AWESOME wine list.
For the invitations, I know from the beginning that I wanted to design them myself. Since the wedding invitations had a sunflower theme, I wanted to carry that into the bridal shower invites as well. As I started working on them, though, I started to doubt that idea thinking that I should let the wedding invites shine on their own and I went with a simple swirly branch motif instead.
5×7 cardstock & envelopes, white : Envytation
design : Photoshop CS4
font: Cooperplate Gothic & Bickham Script Pro
printer: Canon MP950*
* A quick note on the MP950: I’ve had this printer for a while now and it’s a great everyday all-in-one scanner/printer/copier. I choose it back in 2006 because it had 6 separate ink tanks (totally ahead of its time!) and it was great at scanning film, slides & images. It’s replacement is the slick and wireless Canon MP980. It a quick and snazzy little guy!
Here’s what the final product looks like!!
The front card is the invitation itself with the important information removed in photoshop. The second sheet in the back is the envelope.
I thought the invitation looked a little naked after removing the info, so here’s what it would look like with some false info 🙂 I have no idea why I felt the need to write Banana Hammock.
