Ok, so how do you know that "other" really is a hat? Maybe it's a hole. Maybe there's a gnome or two that WANTS to wear a non-pointy hat, but when the approached the circle instead of the traditional cone, they fell down the hole and were turned into sheep. It's a conspiracy, I tell you. It's The Man, keeping down those gnomes that want to be a little different from every other gnome in existence. What a travesty.
