A colleague introduced me to her as “Lynn” at a networking event. A few minutes into our conversation Elena ecstatically exclaimed “You’re Lynn Michelle!” Why, yes I am. Elena was excited to meet me and I was utterly excited to meet her because, well, she makes yummy cakes and she’s utterly adorable!
Elena made my heart melt when she invited me to a ‘cake lunch’ at her place. I walked in completely wide eyed. Beautifully designed cakes surrounded me as did the smell of baked yummies. She sat me down and explained the science of cake tasting. We started with basic white cake. For something basic, it was already tantalizing my taste buds – where would she take me next?
Next was her specialty – champagne cake. Champagne cake? Champagne cake. Light and fluffy, with a white chocolate layer inside, it made my mouth scream in joy. I ate the whole piece, I loved every second of it. I actually ate two pieces of it by the time we were done with our lunch! There are other options, as you can see by the plate, but I will let you lust over them and hopefully you will try them yourself.
