A fellow photographer was talking about this little gem called 5 Minutes Chocolate Mug Cake. It’s a cup cake, right? Well Vivian and I decided to give it a try last night.
First off, here’s the recipe:
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract (we used Brandy since we didn’t have any vanilla extra)
1 large coffee mug
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don’t be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
Vivie stirring up the goods in a large coffee mug.
Hmm,gooey consistancy.
Littles watches the action.
Little high fives Vivie for a good stirring job.
We weren’t exactly sure what 1000watts was – high? medium? Vivie’s trying to read the microwave’s info.
Nom Nom.
Looks like cake.
Vivie tries it. Faces follow.
My turn. Hmmmmmm. Interesting.
Final review. It’s not horrible, but it’s definitely not good. Real cup cakes are the way to go. Recipe Fail.
O well, we played with some new studio toys next.
Gizmo came to visit. He loves the flashing lights.
