We went from amateur to pro floaters really quickly. Here are my patented river floating tips:
– get your tubes from a place close to the river or one that will drop you off at the river. Walking with the tubes sucks.
– don’t take a cooler unless you are a hardcore drinker. It’s a pain in the butt to hold on to otherwise & you won’t actually drink out of it.
– travel light & get river shoes. I was already wearing my swimsuit so all I had to do was walk into the river with my tube and I was done.
– bring a waterproof camera & wear lots of sunscreen. Those are pretty intuitive.
– eat at Shandy’s for lunch. The nachos, enchiladas and burgers hit the stop. I think the domestic beer is $1 on tap. MMM.
I was quite worried about losing my sunglasses so I bought a sunglass floaty doohickey. It wasn’t styling, but at $3 it was a nice security thing. I didn’t actually even come close to losing my sunglasses so I have a nice $3 blue, pink & green boober thing:)
Here is a picture from our first round down the river:

Isn’t the view beautiful?
