If you are thinking ‘I don’t think she’s in Texas for this one, folks’ then you are quite right. My mother and I took a very scenic drive to the Strand Theatre Bridals in Shreveport, Louisiana for Leah’s bridals. This was the first time my mom has every seen me photograph and also her first trip to our neighboring state. If you are thinking, ‘um, Lynn, haven’t you been this photography shtuff since the late 90s?’ then you are quite right, again. There’s no ‘bring your parents to work day’ in our world but I figured this was a good time to try. I really wasn’t sure what my mom was going to do during the session, but she seemed quite content to walk around and take pictures with her camera phone. I think she mentioned wishing she had brought her own camera. Yes, she owns a big ‘ole DSLR – where do you think I got the photography bug from?! (Well, eventually, after not making it as a newspaper writers …) But I digress …
We took these portraits the day before Mother’s day so it was a lovely time to spend with my mom and I’m sure Leah had a great weekend with her own mother as well. And speaking of Leah, she is fearless. Or crazy. Either way, she was up for every request that I made because she’s that fabulous. We then moved along to her alma mater, Centenary College of Lousiana, so that I could take a peek at her ceremony venue and to enjoy the beautiful gazebo there on the grounds.
